Of course, one of the first regions that visitors to the Czech Republic decide to visit is Prague itself with its exquisite architecture, ancient castles, and the amazing Danube flowing through it. However, there are plenty of other cities to discover in this country, such as beautiful Brno and the rather un-touristy but amazingly cultural and historic Olomouc.
The Czech country is also famously beautiful – and rightly so! There is gorgeous rustic accommodation available at great prices throughout the rural regions of this nation.
Prague and Central Bohemia region
Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and is known as the City of a Hundred Spires. The Old Town Square is dotted with baroque and Gothic churches and the Astronomical Clock dates back to medieval times. Take a stroll along the Charles Bridge which is lined with statues of Catholic saints.
In Central Bohemia you will find spectacular castles including the Emperor Charles IV Karltejn and Kutná Hora – a UNESCO monument town as well as winding rivers and gorgeous countryside.
Southern Moravia
This beautiful lush farming region of the Czech Republic also includes the Moravian Highlands, and the caves of the Morvian Karst. The area also stretches to the Carpathian Mountains. Tours of the cave systems are a popular activity.

South Bohemia
South Bohemia is located mostly in the southern part of the republic with a smaller area lying in south-west Moravia. The area is countryside and rivers run though the area. It is an idyllic area for rest and relaxation and should you want to sightsee in the area there is plenty to see in the Old Town, Sumava National Park and ÄŒeské BudÄ›jovice – which is the capital city of South Bohemia.
Historic houses, the square and the well loved baroque Samson’s Fountain blend with the Town Hall and its three notable spires. The Black Tower is a Gothic-Renaissance structure with views of the old town and Klet’ Mountain.
Northern Moravia
Well known as the seat of the Northern Moravian Witch Trials, this historic area is located to the east and north-east of Prague. Offering excellent winter skiing, the area is also a popular hiking area in summer.
Pensions and mountain chalets offer excellent retreats for those who want to get away from city life. The city of Olomouc is a historic region.
Eastern Bohemia
Like many Czech regions the east offers fertile valleys which lead to the Giant Mountains or Krkonoe. The Český ráj (Bohemian Paradise) nature reserve is popular with hikers and well known for peaceful forests and sandstone.

Western Bohemia
